A Building Block for the Energy Transition

Hydrogen plays a key role in the climate-neutral industry of the future. Protecting control electronics is of particular importance in building the necessary infrastructure. ROSE Systemtechnik GmbH equips electrolysers and pipelines worldwide with explosion-proof enclosures.

The company from Porta Westfalica in North Rhine-Westphalia has been producing Ex enclosure solutions for the chemical, petrochemical, oil, and gas industries for decades. All enclosures for these applications comply with the requirements of the ATEX and IECEx directives for Ex zones 1 and 2 in gas explosion protection and zones 21 and 22 in dust explosion protection. Furthermore, the Ex enclosures are approved for use in the USA (UL), the UK (UKCA), Brazil (INMETRO), South Africa (Explolabs), and China (CCC).

ROSE Systemtechnik manufactures its explosion-protected enclosure systems from aluminum, polyester, and stainless steel. Depending on the application and area of use, the enclosures are available with different protection concepts (types of ignition protection). The range of designs includes intrinsically safe variants (Ex i) to the flameproof enclosures (Ex d) of the EJB, IJB, GUB, and TBE series.

Enclosure systems from ROSE Systemtechnik protect, among other things, the control technology of gas purifiers, gas coolers, gas compressors, and water treatment systems in the hydrogen industry. The ATEX enclosures are available in various types of ignition protection, such as Ex e, Ex i, and Ex d. For Ex e and Ex i enclosures, the components are designed to prevent the generation of sparks. Ex d enclosures feature a flameproof encapsulation: it ensures that an explosion inside the enclosure cannot spread to the outside. Sparks, flames, and hot gases are also cooled down by a flame path to the extent that they can no longer ignite a potentially explosive atmosphere in the surrounding area.

Since Ex d enclosures already offer very high explosion protection, the use of standard components without Ex certification is permitted inside them. Therefore, users can choose from the full range of automation components available on the market.
